Roaring Fork Motor Trail
This is the attraction that alot of Visitors miss when coming to the Gatlinburg area. This is a must for the whole family. The Roaring Fork Motor Trail starts at the 3rd traffic light in Gatlinburg and from there you follow the signs. The Trails is approximatley 5.1 miles and takes about 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. There are no restrooms along the trail ! The trail will take you on a tour back to an earlier time when life was simple. There are old barns, old homesteads, several gristmills, waterfalls and lots of hiking trails. The road is winding and steep at times, but travels through some of the most beautiful forest in the Smokies. Most of the timber has not been logged in over 100 years. There are many places to stop and take pictures so enjoy the trip. Take a lunch and prepare to stay a while you will be glad you did.
